PHASE - II OF SOLAR POWER PLANT ANNOUNCED

Solar PV Panels Setup at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Amritsar), Bir Baba Budha Sahib (Thatha, Tarn Taran) & Gurudwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji (Amritsar) by United Sikh Mission

We honor our Gurus’ wisdom by believing that all humans have an intrinsic sensitivity to the natural world and that a sustainable, more just society is possible where water, air, land, forests and biodiversity remain intact for all generations to come.

With this belief, in March 2021, United Sikh Mission – USM, under the visionary guidance of Sardar Rashpal Singh Dhindsa initiated the setting up of a 1.2-Megawatt Solar Power Plant at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar with an aim to ensure an uninterrupted and clean power supply round the clock at Sri Harmandir Sahib, saving 33% of its annual electricity ensuring overall benefit to the environment and massive saving of electricity consumption which the state can utilise for the citizens.

This is an effort towards sustainability and reducing global warming that will help save 2,000 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emission.

The work of setting up of Solar PV Panels at rooftops at all commissioned and approved locations commenced in April 2021 and major part is nearing completion. Inauguration of Solar Power Plant Project at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar was formally inaugurated on 26th October, 2021 and at Beer Baba Budda Sahib Ji, Tarn Taran on 16th November, 2021.

The initiative is officially supported by Sikhlens and green-lighted by SGPC – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar.
